Celsius (°C) Conversions
To use this converter, please enter the temperature value in celsius or centigrade (°C) to convert to Fahrenheit (°F), Kelvin (K) and Rankine (°R).
Celsius or Centigrade (°C) Conversions:
T°F = (T°C × (9/5)) + 32
T°F = (0°C × 1.8) + 32
T°F = 32°F
Kelvin (K):
TK = T°C + 273.15
TK = 0°C + 273.15
TK = 273.15 K
Rankine (°R):
T°R = (T°C + 273.15) × (9/5)
T°R = (0°C + 273.15) × 1.8
T°R = 491.67°R

Celsius (°C) Temperature
Celsius or centigrade is a unit of measurement of the temperature and is represented by the SI symbol (°C "degrees Celsius"). Nowadays in most part of the world, "Celsius" is commonly used for the temperature measurement for different purposes e.g. scientific work, weather forecasts etc. In United States (USA), "Fahrenheit" is commonly used for temperture measurement. Fahrenheit is another unit of measurement of the temperature and is represented by the SI symbol (°F "degrees Fahrenheit").
The melting point of ice or freezing point of water is about 0°C and the boiling point of water is about 100°C at a pressure of 1 atmosphere. But these values tend to vary depending upon the water composition (usually the amount of salt presence) and the air pressure. The salt forces the freezing point of the sea water to be lower and that's why the freezing point of the sea water is around -1.8°C. Similary as the atmospheric pressure decreases at higher altitudes, the boiling point of water also decreases. At the top of the Mount Everest, where the atmospheric pressure is very low, the water boils at about 68°C.
Celsius to Fahrenheit Conversion
The temperature T in Celsius (°C) can be converted to temperature T in Fahrenheit (°F) using the formula:
T°F = (T°C × 95 ) + 32
32°F = 0°C
212°F = 100°C
Example: Convert 30 degrees Celsius to degrees Fahrenheit
- T°F = (T°C × 95) + 32
- T°F = (30°C × 95) + 32
- T°F = 86°F
Celsius to Kelvin Conversion
The temperature T in Celsius (°C) can be converted to temperature T in Kelvin (K) using the formula:
TK = T°C + 273.15
273.15 K = 0°C
373.15 K = 100°C
Example: Convert 30 degrees Celsius to Kelvin
- TK = T°C + 273.15
- TK = 30°C + 273.15
- TK = 303.15 K
Celsius to Rankine Conversion
The temperature T in Celsius (°C) can be converted to temperature T in Rankine (°R) using the formula:
T°R = (T°C + 273.15) × 95
491.67°R = 0°C
671.67°R = 100°C
Example: Convert 30 degrees Celsius to degrees Rankine
- T°R = (T°C + 273.15) × 95
- T°R = (30°C + 273.15) × 1.8
- T°R = 545.67°R
