Rankine (°R) Temperature
Rankine (°R) is the unit of measurement of the temperature and is represented by the symbol °R (degrees Rankine). The Rankine scale is an absolute scale, which is defined such that 0°R is an absolute zero. Rankine scale is also used for the engineering and physical sciences. 491.67°R =~ 0°C (melting point of ice or freezing point of water). In United States (USA), "Fahrenheit" is commonly used for temperture measurement. Fahrenheit is also unit of measurement of the temperature and is represented by the SI symbol (°F "degrees Fahrenheit"). Celsius or centigrade is also a unit of measurement of the temperature and is represented by the SI symbol (°C "degrees Celsius"). Nowadays in most part of the world, "Celsius" is commonly used for the temperature measurement for different purposes e.g. scientific work, weather forecasts etc.
Rankine to Celsius Conversion
The temperature T in Rankine (°R) can be converted to temperature T in Celsius (°C) using the formula:
T°C = (T°R × 59 ) - 273.15
0°C = 491.67°R
100°C = 671.67°R
Example: Convert 550.67 Rankine to degrees Celsius
- T°C = (T°R × 59) - 273.15
- T°C = (550.67°R × 59) - 273.15
- T°C = 32.77778°C
Rankine to Fahrenheit Conversion
The temperature T in Rankine (°R) can be converted to temperature T in Fahrenheit (°F) using the formula:
T°F = T°R - 459.67
32°F = 491.67°R
212°F = 671.67°R
Example: Convert 550.67 Rankine to degrees Fahrenheit
- T°F = T°R - 459.67
- T°F = 550.67°R - 459.67
- T°F = 91°F
Rankine to Kelvin Conversion
The temperature T in Rankine (°R) can be converted to temperature T in Kelvin (K) using the formula:
TK = T°R × 59
273.15 K = 491.67°R
373.15 K = 671.67°R
Example: Convert 550.67 Rankine to Kelvin
- T°R = T°R × 59
- T°R = 550.67 × 59
- T°R = 305.92778 K
